Optimum Design Sapphire-Fiber Bragg Grating for High-Temperature Sensing

Fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors have limitations in measuring high and extreme temperatures because general FBG are made of silica fiber, which at can interfere with the mechanical performance materials. In this paper, we propose an S-FBG (Sapphire Grating) sensor is resistant to environmental influences temperatures. By developing measure temperatures, it found that has sensitivity, every 10C change obtained wavelength shifts as far 30.24 nm, result greatly influenced by thermo-optic coefficient, coefficient expansion-thermal. The design also evaluates Gaussian apodization profile improve accuracy monitoring temperature.

We report results from a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) based scheme for vibration sensing in combustion engines. The vibration sensing is carried out using a commercial high speed spectrometer.
